Like so many others, my journey into fitness began with body building. As a young man I thought that to be healthy and fit you just needed to lift weights and get big.

One thing I came to realize through this was that it all felt not quite right.

That something was missing…. it didn’t feel complete, that I wasn’t able to move at my best.

So I kept training and trying different methods until I landed on kettlebells in 2005. It was here I had my first real experience into the world of unconventional training.

Not long after this I met the man who would forever change my fitness life and set me on to the path that I now take.

That man is Jake Shannon, one of the founding fathers of mace training in the western world. What Pavel Tsatsouline is to the kettlebell world, Jake Shannon is to the mace world. Without Jake’s influences and training, the mace wouldn’t be the world wide phenomenon it is today.
